Redding Neighbors & Newcomers hosted the 2005 Regional Conference of Newcomers Clubs which was held on November 2 at the Redding Country Club and attended by 12 clubs from Fairfield and lower Litchfield Counties. The morning started off with a warm welcome from Natalie Ketcham, First Selectman who told the clubs how she too once served as President of the Redding Neighbors & Newcomers Club prior to her public service. The day went on with round table discussions on topics such as Adult Events, Fundraising, Recruiting and Retaining Members, Presidnet's Circle and more. The workshops where led by each club where many great ideas were shared and friendships forged.
"We were thrilled with the response from regional clubs to attend this event. Everyone was so positive and excited about contributing and presenting their ideas" said Cathy Drury, Regional Conference Chair and VP of Interest Groups for RN&N.
All clubs ended the day looking forward to implementing some new ideas in the near future. Additionally, each club brought a raffle item and $370 was raised for the Women's Center of Greater Danbury, a safe place for women of sexual assault and domestic violence. At the end of the day, Redding passed the baton on to the Oxford/Seymour Newcomers club who will be hosting the conference in 2006.
