Cinco de Mayo
Twelve members of the Redding Neighbors and Newcomers celebrated Cinco de Mayo at Rancho Alegre in Georgetown. It was a lively evening with lots of talking, singing and laughing fueled by margaritas and cervezas. Thanks to all who attended and made it a fun evening!
Progressive Dinner
Redding Neighbors and Newcomers held its 2011 Progressive Dinner on Saturday, March 19th and it was a great success! The 23 people who attended the event began the evening at the home of Kathy and Frank Fenimore. A huge variety of delicious appetizers were served on this first stop of the evening’s culinary express including an antipasto, caponata, roasted artichoke hearts, delicious cheeses, figs and a variety of Italian breads.
The next stop for the evening was for the entrée course was the home of Susan and Jay Buzaid. On the menu was an Italian meal prepared by La Zingara that included a romaine, endive, and radicchio salad with pecans, pear and a buttermilk gorgonzola dressing; penne tossed with crumbled sausage and broccoli rabe with a touch of red pepper in garlic and oil; and chicken breasts sautéed with dried plums, Spanish olives and capers with a white wine-brown sugar sauce. Accompanying the meal was a variety of Italian wines and, of course, Pellegrino. Despite the size of the group the setting remained intimate and relaxing. Everyone enjoyed the meal and made full use of the opportunity to meet new people or to get to know those they had already met a little better.
Just in case there was anyone who had not yet had enough to eat, desert was the next stop on what ended up being a five-hour journey. It was served at the home of John Kane where Italian pastries, cupcakes and brownies were in abundance and accompanied with dessert wines, coffee and tea. There was a little bit of dancing as the tour reached its end in the wee hours of the morning. All in all, it was a terrific night that all will remember. Our sincere thanks go to all of the gracious hosts and to those that attended. It’s time to get to work and map out the next meal!!!
